Credit Farming Guide
Credits are Warframe's universal currency — you burn them on every craft, mod, and trade, and never quite have enough. This is the honest 2026 version: we re-checked every farm against the patch notes, kept only what still pays, and flagged exactly what got nerfed and when. Höllvania Techrot safes are the new king, the Index is still the reliable staple, and half the old "AFK" tricks never really worked.
Why credits matter
Credits are the grease that keeps everything in Warframe moving. Every blueprint you build in the Foundry, every mod you rank up, every gear item you buy from the Market, and every trade you make quietly draws from your credit pile. Platinum gets the headlines, but credits are what you actually spend day to day — and new players are almost always short on them.
The good news: credits are one of the easiest things in the game to farm once you know where to go. Unlike platinum, you never have to trade for them, and unlike Kuva or relics, the farms are fast, repeatable, and mostly stress-free. In mid-2026 the fastest of them is a Höllvania Techrot safe run with Chroma; the Index on Neptune is still the no-setup staple.
Best credit farms by stage (2026)
There is no single "best" credit farm — the right answer depends on your gear and Mastery Rank. As a rule, farms scale from *just play the game* early on, to the Index in the mid-game, to Profit-Taker and Höllvania caches once you're strong. Everything below was re-checked against the current patch — no ancient "just run Dark Sector Defense forever" advice that stopped being true years ago. Match the farm to where you are:
| Stage | Method | Where | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Early (fresh account) | Dark Sectors + Daily First Win | Seimeni (Ceres), Gabii (Ceres), Hieracon (Pluto) | Dark Sector nodes carry a flat credit bonus; extract at the first-rotation marker and reset rather than going long. Spend your once-per-day First Win double on your highest-payout run. ~250–400k/hr solo, no gear needed — genuinely fine for MR1s. |
| Mid (the reliable staple) | The Index — High Risk | Neptune (just reach Neptune; no MR gate) | Wager 50k, win 250k. Bank around 15 points for the bonus, stay several rounds (the wager is paid once per match). ~1.5–2M/hr solo. Steel Path does NOT raise the reward — run normal. Still the best pick if you lack Chroma. |
| Late (fast squad ceiling) | Profit-Taker heist — Phase 4 only | Orb Vallis, Fortuna (needs Old Mate + a Gravimag archgun) | The Orb drops a guaranteed 125k as physical loot, so it scales with everything. Clear phases 1–3 once, then re-kill only the boss. Drop Chroma's Effigy on the collapse spot BEFORE it dies to double the pile. ~2–3M/hr, 4–5M+ for a sweaty squad. |
| Newest content (the current king) | Höllvania Techrot safe (Warframe 1999) | Höllvania / 1999 — any mission type EXCEPT Exterminate | One safe per run, cracked with a nearby key, base 100k. Deploy Chroma's Effigy next to it BEFORE opening for the ×2 — the #1 'it's broken' mistake. Full stack hits ~560k, up to ~1M+ per 2–3 min run. Comfier and more pub-friendly than Profit-Taker for near-equal pay. |
| Endgame multiplier stack | Booster + Blessing + event 2× + Chroma Effigy + Retriever | Layer it onto a top farm (Höllvania caches or Profit-Taker) | Multipliers stack: a Credit Booster (2×) on a Double Credit weekend (2×) is 4×, with Chroma's Effigy, a relay Credit Blessing and a Prosperous Retriever proc on top. The Daily First Win 2× does NOT apply to the Index, heists, or Höllvania caches — buy your booster during an event weekend instead. |
| Low-effort / semi-AFK | Railjack — Sover Strait loop | Earth Proxima, Sover Strait (needs a built Railjack + AI crew) | ~34k per ~3-min run, semi-AFK with an AI crew on the guns. ~0.5–1M/hr, more with a Booster. Slower than the Index or caches, but wins on near-zero effort and gear. |
Node names and exact payouts shift with updates — treat this as the shape of the progression, and check the wiki for current numbers.
Höllvania Techrot safes — the 2026 king
The single biggest change to credit farming since this guide first went up is Warframe 1999 / Höllvania. Every mission there (except Exterminate) spawns one Techrot safe — a big lockbox you crack with a nearby key for a base 100,000 credits, plus an Arcane and a Hex Treasure on the side. On its own that's already strong for a 2–3 minute run; with Chroma it becomes the best credit-per-hour farm in the game.
- Pick any mission but Exterminate
Capture is the fastest. Better still, run a bounty whose objective is cracking the safe (a "SHELL CRACKER" step) so the safe is map-marked and you're not hunting for it.
- Grab the key, find the safe
A key spawns near the safe — pick it up and haul it over. Loot-radar mods (or an Orokin Eye air support) make both trivial to spot.
- Deploy Chroma's Effigy BEFORE opening
This is the whole trick. Effigy's aura doubles credits dropped inside it (~10m), but it only counts if it's up when the safe pays out. Drop it on the safe, THEN crack it. Opening first and deploying after is the #1 reason people think the farm is 'broken'.
- Crack it and stack the rest
On top of the ×2 from Effigy, layer a relay Credit Blessing (+25%), a Prosperous Retriever proc on your companion, a Credit Booster, and — if it's live — a Double Credit weekend. Full stack lands around ~560k typical and north of a million on a good roll.
The Index — the reliable credit engine
The Index on Neptune is the community's default credit farm for a reason: it's fast, endlessly repeatable, needs zero special gear, and is available the moment you progress the star chart to Neptune (no Mastery gate, no Glast Gambit required). It's a point-banking mode — you wager credits up front, kill Index enemies to collect points, and deposit them at the terminal before the enemy AI team banks theirs. Win the match and you walk away with a payout well above your wager.
- Pick a wager tier
Higher risk = bigger payout. High Risk (50k wager) returns 250k on a win — the standard farm once you can win consistently. If your team is shaky, Low or Medium keeps you solvent while you learn.
- Kill, collect, and bank smart
Index enemies drop points on death. You take extra damage while carrying a large stack, so bank around 15 points for the bonus rather than hoarding to 20.
- Deny the enemy terminal
Deposit your points to score and keep the enemy team from reaching the target first. Controlling the map is how you win.
- Win, then keep going
The wager is charged only once per match, so staying in for more rounds is far more efficient than leaving and re-queuing — this is where the credits pile up. Run normal, not Steel Path: SP does not raise the credit reward.
| Tier | Wager | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Low Risk | 30,000 | Learning the mode / small bankroll |
| Medium Risk | 40,000 | Steady mid-game income |
| High Risk | 50,000 | Best profit per round — the standard farm |
High Risk pays roughly 250k on a win (~200k profit per round). The wager is charged only once per match, so extra rounds are near-pure profit; lose and you forfeit it. Check the wiki for exact current numbers.
Profit-Taker & other veteran farms
Once your gear can handle it, the Profit-Taker Orb heist in Fortuna's Orb Vallis is the fast-squad ceiling. Killing the Orb (Phase 4) drops a guaranteed 125,000 credits as physical loot — and because it's a *drop*, not a fixed reward, it scales with every multiplier you own. Clear phases 1–3 once, then re-kill only the boss back-to-back. Drop Chroma's Effigy where the Orb collapses (its aura is only ~10m) before it dies to double the pile, and a Credit Booster applies to every run (unlike the Index wager).
Profit-Taker leans on Fortuna reputation, so if you're not there yet, work your standing first — it doubles as progress toward the amps and arcanes you'll want anyway.
Boosters & multipliers — stack them
The single biggest lever on your credit income isn't the node — it's the multipliers you layer on top. They stack, so a booster + a lucky Charm + a Blessing on a top farm can more than triple your baseline.
- Credit Booster (2×) — doubles all credits gained for its duration. Buy from the Market with platinum, or grab free ones from login-milestone rewards, Nightwave, and events.
- Double Credit weekend (2×) — a separate event multiplier that stacks with the Credit Booster for a flat 4×. Buy your booster *during* the weekend to hit the ceiling.
- Chroma's Effigy (2×) — doubles credits dropped inside its ~10m aura. This is the workhorse behind both the Höllvania-safe and Profit-Taker farms; deploy it *before* the payout.
- Credit Blessing (+25%) — a relay blessing from a max-rank ally; it 'double-dips' for roughly a 1.4× effective boost on drop-based farms.
- Prosperous Retriever — a companion mod with a chance (~18%) to double a credit pickup. (It's *Prosperous* Retriever — not the old 'Resourceful' name.)
- Smeeta Kavat (Charm) — its Charm buff can double resources and credits you pick up for a short window. Still works; the proc is just RNG.
- Daily First Win (2×) — doubles your first end-of-mission reward each day, but it does NOT apply to the Index, heists, or Höllvania caches — save it for a normal high-payout mission.
Legacy & situational farms (Wukong, Necramech & friends)
Half the "best credit farm" guides floating around still recite setups that either got patched or were never really credit farms to begin with. Here's the honest graveyard — what these methods actually do in mid-2026. Read it before you sink standing or forma into a build a 2024 thumbnail told you was god-tier.
| Farm | 2026 status | What it actually does |
|---|---|---|
| Wukong AFK farm (Twin + Secura Lecta) | Never worked as an "AFK" farm | Celestial Twin kills are ability kills that never trigger the Lecta's credit bonus, and the twin fires a gun (not the Lecta) whenever Wukong holds melee. The real use for Wukong is the Index, not this. Don't build for the twin version. |
| Secura Lecta 'credit explosion' | Nerfed May 2026 — plain multiplier only | The multi-trigger exploit (people claimed 50M+/hr) was patched in Hotfix 42.0.10. Still a fine ~2×–4× on-kill multiplier on a dense node — just not a farm you build around anymore. |
| Necramech (Deimos Isolation Vaults) | Situational — never a real credit farm | Vault Necramechs drop Damaged Necramech Parts that vendor for ~20k each, so credits are incidental. It's a Necramech-component and Necraloid-standing farm. Run it for Voidrig/Bonewidow parts, not credits. |
| Kullervo boss (Duviri) | Not a credit farm — never was | Drops Kullervo's Bane (a Duviri currency for his own blueprints), not credits. Farm him for the Warframe, full stop. |
| The Descendia / Roathe | A Maphica/Arcane farm, not credits | Pays essentially the ~7.4k base plus a few weekly-gated 10k caches. Run it for Maphica, Arcanes and Rivens; grab the caches once at weekly reset. |
| Faceoff (1999 PvPvE) | Awards zero credits | Pays Vosfor, Arcanes, Relics, Endo and Conclave Standing — no credits at all. Fun mode, wrong list. |
The through-line: nothing here was nerfed to spite credit farmers except the Secura Lecta multi-trigger exploit (Hotfix 42.0.10, 6 May 2026). The rest either never paid credits or simply got lapped by newer content. Believe the patch dates, not the old videos.
Does the Wukong AFK credit farm still work? No — and it never did as advertised. The Celestial Twin's kills are ability kills, which don't proc the Secura Lecta's on-kill credit bonus, and the twin uses a gun instead of the Lecta whenever Wukong is holding melee, so the whole premise collapses. The Lecta credit farm that *does* exist is an active Chroma (Helminth Ensnare to group enemies + Effigy for the doubling aura) on a Dark Sector Steel Path Survival like Titan — and even that lost its teeth in Hotfix 42.0.10. If you want Wukong to make you credits, take him to the Index (see above); don't build for the twin.
Can you farm credits with a Necramech? Not really. Deimos Isolation Vault Necramechs drop Damaged Necramech Parts that vendor for ~20,000 credits each, so credits only show up as a byproduct of a run that's fundamentally about Necramech components and Necraloid standing. Best case with Nekros plus a booster and a Kavat Charm you might see a few hundred k up to ~1.5M/hr, but it's inconsistent — and a single 2–5 minute Höllvania cache run with Chroma now matches that. Nothing was 'nerfed' here for credits; power creep just made the credit angle obsolete. Run Iso Vaults for Voidrig/Bonewidow parts, not for your wallet.
The one-liner: stop chasing clever legacy cheese. The Secura Lecta is a fine incidental multiplier but no longer a destination, and Wukong/Necramech/Kullervo were never the credit machines the thumbnails promised. For actual bulk credits in mid-2026, run Höllvania Techrot safes with Chroma, Profit-Taker Phase 4 for a fast squad, or the Index if you lack Chroma — with a Credit Booster on a Double Credit weekend on top of whichever you pick.
Early-game & no-stress credits
New and credit-starved? You don't need a meta farm — you need to stop leaking credits and grab the easy wins. Before you unlock the Index, these keep the lights on:
- Sell your junk to the console
Open your inventory and sell duplicate part blueprints and unranked common mods to the in-game vendor (this is different from trading). Reddit's favourite gag — search a heavily-farmed frame like 'Harrow' and sell the stack of duplicate part blueprints — is real advice: they're worth a chunk of credits each.
- Run Dark Sectors
Dark Sector nodes add a credit bonus on top of normal rewards, and their Defense/Excavation variants are beginner-friendly. Extract at the first-rotation marker once rewards slow down.
- Just finish missions
Every mission pays a credit reward on completion plus enemy drops. Clearing the star chart and doing bounties naturally funds your early crafting — and spend your Daily First Win double on the biggest one.
- Cash a Credit Booster from login
Keep an eye on login-milestone rewards and Nightwave for free boosters, and use them during a farming push rather than idle play.
Where your credits actually go
Understanding the sinks is half the battle — it tells you when to farm. The reason you feel perpetually broke is that a handful of these can each swallow a full Index session:
- Foundry crafting — nearly every blueprint charges credits (often plus resources) just to start the build timer.
- Market blueprints & gear — Warframe, weapon, and gear blueprints are bought with credits.
- Mod upgrades — ranking up mods costs credits *and* endo. Maxing a Primed or 10-rank mod can run close to two million credits each.
- Trade tax — every trade charges a credit tax that scales with the item's rarity, so heavy traders burn credits fast.
- Baro Ki'Teer & vendors — many offerings cost credits alongside ducats or standing.
- Dojo research & decorating — clan research and décor are big, ongoing credit sinks.
Bank a few runs before a big crafting or modding session — nothing kills momentum like finishing a farm and realizing you can't afford to build any of it.— Common r/Warframe advice
The high-end ceiling (and staying sane)
The top of the credit meta in 2026 is Chroma on a top drop-farm with every multiplier stacked — a Höllvania Techrot safe or a Profit-Taker Phase 4 kill, with Effigy for the ×2, a Credit Booster and a Double Credit weekend for a 4×, plus a relay Credit Blessing and a lucky Retriever proc. Well-geared players chain these for numbers that dwarf everything else in this guide. Note what's *not* here anymore: the Secura Lecta multi-trigger farm, which the May 2026 hotfix retired.
Credits fund everything, but they're not the *tradeable* currency. If your real goal is buying gear off other players, pivot to earning platinum with tools like flip, the relic value calculator, and Baro ducat rankings.
